2007 KINGS MOUNTAIN ART FAIR

Every Labor Day Weekend, for 45 years, our unincorporated community has held a most extraordinary Art Fair. We are proud to say that our Art Fair is run entirely by volunteers. This is the spirit that makes these three days out in the redwoods a special event for artists, neighbors and fairgoers alike. As you may know, the Kings Mountain Art Fair is a benefit for our fire brigade, our community center, and other local needs, including our small public school. It is also highy rated as having the finest selection of juried artists, who come from near and far. The local folk art section is where you will find me, along with my very talented and interesting neighbors.

MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE RANCH...

We just celebrated ten years of creative collaboration between Rebecca Holland Studio and Steve Michelson Productions here at Lobitos Creek Ranch. Fine art, video, and interactive media is our box of tools with which we work on our many and varied projects. Our work looks at the landscape around us and to environmental issues beyond; we celebrate the beauty and we explore answers to the problems of our small planet.   In a tranquil and quiet setting, the studios are always busy - working with interesting and inspired filmmakers who come here from all over the world.

The beautiful Sweetwater Bungalow tent studio I built has been good for my paintings. The horses are right outside my window and I have a view of the hills. Check out my view in my paintings of, "Bonnie's Windmill" and "Lobitos Sunrise". In addition to making movies and painting, Steve and I have fun with our friends kayaking and rafting, horseback riding, camping, visiting friends and family and traveling. Most of our travels take us to film festivals to represent our films and to meet with other film makers. Last winter we   skiied as much as possible. We have a vacation ski house in Truckee.

I'm doing a lot of different kinds of things, but for me it all feels very connected. My life is all about being challenged by new adventures and being alive and well and loving and celebrating our natural world.
